Philae Temple

  • Aswan, Aswan Governorate, Egypt

The Philae Temple is an ancient temple complex located on the island of Philae in Egypt. The temple was dedicated to the goddess Isis and was originally built in the Ptolemaic period, but was later expanded by the Romans. The temple complex was relocated to its current location on Agilkia Island in the 20th century due to the construction of the Aswan High Dam, which threatened to submerge the temple. The Philae Temple is considered one of the best-preserved ancient temples in Egypt and is a popular tourist destination today.
