9-Day Tour of Egypt and Jordan

This tour starts with your pickup upon arrival in Cairo and ends in Amman, Jordan.

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo

Arrive any day in Cairo. Upon your arrival in Cairo, you will be met with our company representative in the arrivals area of the airport who will be holding a signboard with your name on it. After meet and greet, you will be transferred from the airport to your hotel in Cairo. Rest of the day will be at leisure.

Day 2: Visit the Great Pyramids and Egyptian Museum

After breakfast at the hotel. Start your day visiting the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. On display is a rare collection of 5000 years of art the largest most precious collection of Egyptian art in the world.

Over 250,000 genuine artifacts are presented, including an exhibit dedicated to the Tutankhamen collection of treasures, gold, and jewelry, as it was enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years before it was discovered in the 1920s when his tomb was excavated.

Visit the Great Pyramids – Cheops, Chephren & Mykerions. Cheops is the most colossal ever built. Next is a close-up look at the Sphinx – a huge funeral complex guarded by the legendary lion’s body with the face of King Chephren.

After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo and have the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 3: Fly from Cairo to Luxor – Luxor East Bank Tour

Today we will continue our Cairo to Luxor tour. In the morning, we will take you to the airport for your flight to Luxor and transfer you to the hotel. After a break, we will head to the Valley of the Kings, where lies the tombs of the pharaohs during the New Kingdom of Egypt from the 16th to 11th centuries BC. With your guide, you will learn about the legendary stories of the first female pharaoh at the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, built in the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. Before driving back to your hotel, we will make a photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two ancient statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III that is over 3,300 years old.

Day 4: Luxor West Bank Tour – Fly back to Cairo

After breakfast, we will set off to visit two world-famous temples and also UNESCO World Heritage sites – Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. Karnak Temple is a vast temple complex with a history of over 3,900 years. The groups of carved pillars, statues of Ramesses II, and the 29-meter obelisk manifest the glory of the New Kingdom. Luxor Temple, completed in the 14th century BC and took 168 years to build, was originally used for the Opet Festival. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred to Luxor airport for your late evening return flight to Cairo. Upon your arrival in Cairo, you will be met at the airport and transferred from the airport to your hotel.

Day 5: Fly to Amman from Cairo (flight not included) — Private drive to Petra

This morning you’ll be transferred to Cairo Airport for your flight to Jordan. After passing customs and collecting your luggage, meet your driver. Travel along the famous ancient caravan route of the King’s Way. Short photo stop in Wadi Al-Mujib, a great wide valley with magnificent geological formations, identical to the Arnon River of the Hebrew Bible. Then to the remains of the Crusader castle Kerak. Explore the underground passageways, enjoy the view, and imagine how the forces of Salah ad-Din besieged this stronghold several times. Another, but smaller Crusader castle is the ruins of Shobak Castle. It has its charm due to its isolated location and nice views over the rugged surroundings. Within 40 minutes you reach Petra and check into your hotel.

Day 6: Petra

After breakfast, visit the highlight of Jordan, the red rose city Petra! Petra is Jordan’s top attraction and was founded around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabatean Arabs. Initially a nomadic tribe, they developed agriculture techniques and became successful as traders. Meet your local guide and pass the narrow canyon, the so-called Siq, with its colourful sandstone. At the end you will be rewarded with a view of the most beautiful monument, the Treasury. Continue via the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh’s Castle. After around 2.5 hours the guide says farewell to you at the restaurant area. You have free time to explore Petra on your own. The young at heart for instance have the chance to climb the 800 stairs to the 45 meters high Monastery El Deir. Return along the same trail to the main gate, and from here back to the hotel.

Day 7: Free day in Petra to explore

Except breakfast and overnight at the hotel, no other services are provided by us. Explore the rock city Petra independently. Beside the main trail, it is possible to follow two path without a guide to the upper parts of Petra, one is leading to the High Place of Sacrifice, the other to the Monastery El Deir. Relax at your hotel, walk around the centre of Wadi Musa town, and try the national dish Mansaf at one of the local restaurants.

Day 8: Petra — Jerash — Amman

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a 2.5-hour journey along the desert highway back to Amman. From Amman, you will take a 50 km drive to Jerash, recognized as one of the best-preserved examples of a Roman provincial city in the Middle East. Buried under the sand for centuries, these magnificent ruins weren’t unearthed until the start of excavations in 1925. During the tour, your English-speaking guide will provide historical insight into the significant landmarks, including the Hippodrome, the breathtaking Forum, the Colonnaded Street, the Nymphaeum, the Temple of Artemis, and the North Theatre. If time allows, you will also have the opportunity to explore the remains independently. To conclude the day, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Amman for check-in.

Day 9: Departure from Amman – End of Tour Service

After breakfast, you will check out from your hotel in Amman (hotel check-out is before 12:00 noon) and will then be transferred to the Amman International Airport according to your flight details. This will be the end of our tour and services.
